Myth #28: Isaac Newton and the Apple
How many times have you come across the delightful tale of Sir Isaac Newton experiencing a “Eureka!” moment when an apple bonked him on the noggin, sparking his revelation about gravity? As endearing as this story may be, it’s more of a legend than a precise historical account.

You see, while Newton did indeed witness an apple taking a downward plunge from a tree, it never made direct contact with his head. This seemingly simple observation, however, ignited a fire of curiosity within him. It led him to ponder the peculiar tendency of objects to fall in a downward direction rather than sideways or upwards.
