#16: The Great Galveston Hurricane of 1900
When it comes to natural disasters, unfortunately, we are becoming more and more accustomed to them in modern times. However, there is one that has stuck with the American people for more than 100 years. Before hurricanes were even named, this terrible natural disaster was known as a ‘monster storm.’

At the turn of the century, Galveston, Texas, was hit very badly by a hurricane that was 10 cyclones combined. This deadly incident is known as the worst in U.S. history, as 6,000 people lost their lives, and 3,600 buildings were destroyed or pushed 15 feet ashore.
